@LeighEllwood Visits the ‘Verse: Sugar Rush, #lesfic from @ellorascave

Welcome Leigh, another lovely author of F/F romance! Thanks for stopping by today to share your novella Sugar Rush!

Hello, and thanks to Skylar for having me on her blog today. I am presently on the road promoting my new novella, Sugar Rush, out this month through Ellora’s Cave. Sugar Rush is part of a special line of stories called Hot Pink – sensual romances between women. As EC is known mainly for their alpha heroes, you could say this is history in the making (though EC has put out some lesbian romance in the past). I’m thrilled to be part of this line, which features many great authors.

As this is LGBT Pride Month, and Sugar Rush begins with news of a wedding, I’d like to touch on marriage equality. Personally, I support it. If two people love each other and wish to live together as spouses – man/woman, man/man, woman/woman – I say congratulations to them and may they enjoy many happy years. Of course, some people don’t believe same-sex couples should enjoy wedded bliss, and I don’t understand why one person would adamantly prevent somebody else’s happiness. “If you don’t like gay marriage, don’t get gay married,” a friend tells me.

I open Sugar Rush with two older women, finally able to legally marry in their state, coming to Neve’s bakery to order a cake. The overwhelming emotion of that first scene got to me as I wrote it, and I tried to put myself in their shoes. I can’t imagine walking into a business and having the proprietor turn me away because he/she didn’t approve of my choice of spouse. When you think about the 1967 case Loving vs. Virginia, which struck down laws that prohibited interracial marriage, acceptance of marriages considered “non-traditional” is a fairly recent happening. Heck, a 1972 sitcom called Bridget Loves Bernie was cancelled despite high ratings because people complained about seeing a Catholic girl married to a Jewish man on television! Imagine how Cam and Mitchell of Modern Family would have been received back then.

Are we there yet as far as marriage equality is concerned? I like to think we’re on our way. This month, as I see the release of my novella, I hope everybody who finds true love – regardless of race, religion, and gender – finds a happily ever after at the altar if they choose it.

Best, Leigh

Baker Neve Rush is surprised to receive social media attention, both the good and bad varieties, after agreeing to bake a wedding cake for a lesbian couple. She cares about people’s tastes in pastries, not sexual partners. The newfound fame has gained her new customers—as well as one resurfaced ex. Gianna stirs up memories Neve would rather forget, and an impromptu flirtation with a client might just do the trick.

Judy Goldsmith finds Neve’s open-mindedness refreshing and attractive, and isn’t above a little scheming to get to know her better. As Neve and Judy satisfy each other’s sweet tooth in the most pleasurable ways possible, feelings begin to blossom. But their deepening attraction may not survive a little white lie…and an even bigger, darker secret.

Michelle Cary visits the ‘Verse with On the Ropes: Leap of Faith!

Skylar: Thanks for stopping by, Michelle, and for answering all of my questions. First, why did you start writing romance?

Michelle: I started writing completely by accident. Ten years ago (I can’t even believe it’s been that long already). I was watching an episode of Deadliest Catch and something they were talking about on screen sparked an idea. After walking around with this idea nagging me for three days, I mentioned it to my husband. His response was write it down and it will go away.

Well, it didn’t go away. In fact it grew and eventually became my novel Northern Lights. After I finished I realized I wasn’t satisfied. I needed to write something else, and that’s how my career as an author began.

Skylar: Who are some of your favorite romance authors?

Michelle: Nora Roberts is my idol when it comes to romance authors. I just love how she has such an ability to weave a tale in such a way that you’re sucked in within the first couple of pages. I also enjoy reading Linda Lael Miller and Maya Banks.

For edgier romance I really enjoy Cherise Sinclair’s work. I just LOVE her Shadowlands books.

Skylar: What inspires you?

Michelle: My inspiration comes from many places. Like I mentioned above, I started writing after watching an episode of Deadliest Catch. My ‘On The Ropes’ series I’m currently working on was inspired by watching professional wrestling with my daughter.

I’ve also read other authors books that have given me inspiration. Cherise Sinclair for example. After reading a few of her Shadowlands books I decided to try my hand at writing BDSM and that’s how my ‘Circle of Masters’ story came to be.

Just driving from one place to another or people watching can give me ideas. Inspiration is all around.

Skylar: What do you consider the most challenging about writing?

Finding balance within the story. Sometimes it’s so difficult to get just that right amount of plot, description, characterization and inner voice without having one overpower another. Usually, it’s the characters I struggle with, as many times I have a hard time making them as three dimensional and life-like as what I’ve had the pleasure reading in other author’s stories. It’s a constant learning process and one I hope I’m getting better at with each story I write.

Skylar: What are you working on at the moment?

I actually have several balls in the air at the moment. Besides promoting the release of Book 1 ‘Leap of Faith’ in my ‘On the Ropes’ series. I have book 2 in edits and book 4 in rewrites for submission. I’m also toying with the idea of a new pen name and a series of BBW books.

Skylar: What is your favorite quote and why?

“Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.” – The quote comes from Apple creator Steve Jobs and I keep a couple copies posted at both my EDJ and my home office. I love this quote because in those moments when I’m down it provides me with inspiration and hope.

Skylar: Do you intend to make writing a career?

I hope to one day be able to make writing my career. While it would be nice to reach the ranks of a Nora Roberts or Stephen King, I’d be perfectly happy just making a living off what I write. Right now that remains a dream, but one that hopefully with a lot more hard work and a little bit of luck, I’ll eventually achieve.

MC_Leap of Faith_coversmContent with her life as Ultimate Extreme Wrestling Vixen. Lexi Blackwell isn’t looking for love. Considered a legacy in the business because of her legendary father, she’s well respected and liked by many. She has only one focus and that’s her career. Years ago she fell in love with a fellow UEW superstar only to suffer a lot more than just a broken heart. Unable to completely recover from the hurt, Lexi swore never to travel down that path again.

Professional wrestler Logan Lanier is a rising star in the company. He’s spent years working to reach the top and excels at everything he does. Once in the big leagues Logan quickly realizes just how lonely the existence can be. Feeling a connection with Lexi, he sets his sights and his heart on the pretty little vixen. He knows she’s been burned before and is determined to do whatever it takes to prove that not all men (or wrestlers) are created equal.

Can Logan win her trust and ultimately her love, or will the cruel hand of fate strike again?

***

Lexi checked the schedule sheet a second time, then glanced at her watch. Six hours until the show went live, and she still didn’t know what this notation on the sheet marked THE TRIBUNAL ENTERS meant. When she agreed to take on the temporary tasks of the backstage coordinator, the one stipulation she’d made was no surprises. Guess she shouldn’t be shocked that the agreement hadn’t lasted. Gene and Mark would have promised her the moon to get her to say yes.

Of course, no one, especially Lexi, expected Emma, the current backstage coordinator, to suffer acute appendicitis and be out for at least six weeks. Emma’s absence left management scrambling to cover one of the most important positions in the company. Jackie, the assistant coordinator, had taken on only as much work as she’d wanted, and it far from covered everything that needed done.

With Emma facing a slow and painful recovery, the last thing Lexi wanted was her friend worrying about work and letting management down. When Emma recommended Lexi to step up and take over, Lexi had said yes out of loyalty, both to her friend and the company.

Growing up in a wrestling family and spending nearly all her life immersed in the business, Lexi knew not only the ins and outs of the business, but how difficult Gene could be to work for. Still, Gene and the entire France-Lane family had done nothing but treat her with the utmost respect since she signed on seven years ago.

She’d come to love this company, and there was little she wouldn’t do for it or the France family, including setting aside her wrestling career to take on the task of coordinator. In return, Mark had the writers provide Lexi with a personal storyline and some onstage time by creating an up-and-coming team for her to manage. Still, she’d rather go back to wrestling full-time beside her cousin Aubrey and representing their family in the ring.

“Would you stop looking at your watch? Jackie snapped. “You’re not going to slow time, you know.”

Lexi let out a sigh. Too bad she couldn’t really figure out how to slow time, because right now she needed at least an extra hour to get everything on their list completed before showtime. “I know, but this ‘Tribunal’ notation is making me nervous. Why hasn’t anyone told us what this is about?”

Jackie shook her head. “I have no clue, but I figure if they wanted us to know, they would have told us by now. Why worry about it?”

Lexi barely refrained from rolling her eyes at the younger girl’s statement. Sometimes she wondered how Emma worked with Jackie on a daily basis. That girl had a lazy streak a mile wide and an attitude to match. “I think as the people in charge of making sure everything runs smoothly, we should be privy to even the most secret of storylines.”

Jackie shrugged. “Obviously upper management doesn’t agree. Why sweat it? If something goes wrong, you can simply say you were following orders. You can’t be blamed for what you weren’t told, right?”

“Wrong,” Lexi argued. Why did Jackie always take the path of least resistance, then use the “but I was just following orders” excuse when something went wrong? Didn’t the girl have any pride in her work? “It’s just possible that the writers and management didn’t realize or think about us needing to know this info. How can we make the show better if we don’t know what we need to know? Maybe somebody should have a sit-down with management and explain what it is we do and don’t need to know.”

Jackie leveled an annoyed look in her direction. “Well, why don’t you go tell the writers that?”

“Why me?” Lexi asked.

“Because you’re Lexi Blackwell,” Jackie argued. “Daughter of the great Nick ‘The Bruiser’ Blackwell. You carry weight here while I’m just a hired no-name who is supposed to shut up and do my job.”

“Fine.” While she was in Mark’s office, she’d also talk to him about replacing Jackie with someone more driven to give their best to this company and actually do her job. Jackie’s shut-up-and-do-only-my-job-and-nothing-more attitude would eventually cause huge problems. If Jackie wasn’t going to do anything, then Lexi would. “I’ll be back.” She turned and ran smack into a hard wall of muscle. Shock infused her body, and a gasp slipped from her lips as her forward motion suddenly reversed with the impact.

She took a step back, trying to regain her balance, but it was the two hands that grabbed her by the arms that in the end kept Lexi from falling on her ass.

“Easy, sweetheart.” A low, sexy, and totally unfamiliar voice rumbled above her, causing a reactionary shiver to ripple through her system. Heat gathered deep in her belly, and her skin tingled with awareness. For a moment she froze, too stunned by her body’s response to move. As reality began to return, she shifted her gaze to the man who’d kept her from falling. Well-defined muscles hidden beneath a tight-fitting black T-shirt held up a set of broad, strong shoulders and bulging biceps. Impressed, she allowed her gaze to travel higher and noted the squared, chiseled jaw beneath a dark goatee. Full, supple lips appeared to tip up around the edges, as if he found the situation slightly amusing, though his piercing blue eyes staring down at her revealed something other than amusement.

The intensity in his gaze held Lexi in place. Caught in the crosshairs of his dark blue eyes, she barely remembered to breathe as she stared up at the fine specimen of man before her. Who was this buff, handsome stranger with the sexy gaze and an aura about him that stirred her long-dormant libido?

“Lexi.” Mark’s words broke the spell, and she slowly turned to look at her friend and boss. “You okay?”

“Um.” She raked a now shaky hand through her hair and glanced back at the tanned, sexy man still standing way too close for comfort. “Yeah, I think.” Refocusing, she turned her attention back to Mark.

“Good.” Mark gave a nod. “Then I’d like to introduce you to three new wrestlers who will be joining our roster.” He motioned to a thinner man with light brown hair. “This is Cole Collins.” He turned to another man standing next to Cole. “Jason Rivers.” Then he motioned to the man standing behind her and smirked. “And you’ve already met Logan Lanier. Gentlemen, I’m sure you all know of Lexi Blackwell. Lexi is not only one of our more prominent Vixens, but she’s our jack-of-all-trades.”

Lexi’s gaze darted from man to man. “Gentlemen,” she replied, slowly regaining her composure. “Welcome to the Extreme Ultimate Wrestling.”

“They will be working together under the name The Tribunal,” Mark continued. “Their angle is that they’re here to erase the corruption plaguing EUW.”

Wide-eyed, she shifted her attention back to Mark. “So the mystery is finally revealed.”

Mark chuckled. “I suppose you could say that. I meant to get over here sooner and explain, but things have been crazy today. Anyway, they’ve already been briefed about the show tonight and know what they’re doing, so just go along with whatever happens. After tonight, you’ll need to get with them and bring them up to speed on procedures and such.” He turned to face the men. “If you guys have any questions, Lexi is also the go-to person.”

“Good to know.” Logan’s sexy voice carried over her shoulder, and awareness skittered up her spine as she glanced back at him. For the second time in nearly as many minutes, he pinned her with a piercing look. Desire flared through her system, heating her body from the inside out. Her mind scrambled to regain control. What was it about this man that caused such a reaction deep within her? More important, how in the hell was she going to control it?

Sascha Illyvich visits the ‘Verse: Jason and Chase’s Top Five List of Annoyances!

Sascha: I decided to do something different for this blog post. So I brought in Jason and Chase, the two sexy dominants in Menage Bound to tell us what things they find annoying in submissives, and possibly reveal some of Siddella’s annoying (yet “adorable”) traits!

Let’s start off with the obvious. Jason, what annoys you?
Jason: Hey man this is easy. Blatant disobedience.
Chase: But not SAM behavior. SAM behavior is cute…sometimes *blinks*

All right. Define SAM for us.
Jason: Siddella. *snicker*
Chase: Nods. Definitely a smart-assed masochist. SAM behavior can be annoying or arousing depending on how far the person in question pushes, but sometimes it’s a cry for attention when the submissive thinks they’re not getting enough.
Jason: Which, dude, leads us to our next annoyance. Submissives should think. But not too much. Getting suck in their own heads is part of why we’re in a relationship, but they need to trust us to address their needs.
Chase: *nod nod* The needs and communication bit are important.

All right, what’s next?

Chase: Cowards. Express yourself in your sexuality. Talk to us. This lifestyle requires us to be so open with all of us. If you’re afraid of something, that’s fine. Let us know.
Jason: Word. I especially hate cowardly women who send others to do their dirty work like pinching their favorite new author on the ass…

Okay… *blinks and looks around…*
Jason: Her name was Feather something…hell I don’t know. Anyway…
Chase: Yeah, really aloof woman.

What ARE you talking about?’
Jason: Hm?
Chase: Oh right. Last annoyance with submissives…was that it?
Jason: Ah hell I don’t know. Can we just skip to the promo now?

Yeah guys. Sure.

For more of these two, plus the potential SAM behavior of Siddella, find them in Menage Bound, a light-hearted ménage with “do it yourself” D/s!

MenageBound_MED300_450Siddella, a tired corporate executive, needs a break from the hectic work life she leads. Overstressed, she wouldn’t mind if that break came in the form of two hunky dominant males that cater to dark fantasies involving bondage of both the mind and body.

Jason and Chase have yearned for a woman who fit into their relationship. She’d be sexy, confident, self reliant and kinky? Damn right she would be. But her most prized possession would her acceptance of them as individuals and a couple.

When all three are separately given 1Night Stand cards, they realize the chance of a lifetime. Are they ultimately ménage bound?

***

Grabbing her purse, Siddella pulled out her wallet and slid her ID and a credit card into a back pocket along with the room key. She hoped it wouldn’t be needed later.

Tossing the bag on the bed, she walked towards the door and stopped in front of the mirror. She did a complete 360 turn, admiring her curves and the casual yet seductive look she hoped she pulled off.

Then, out the door she went.

Scanning the dense crowd, Siddella spotted two very tall, very handsome gentlemen waiting at a table, cigars in hand.

One stood casually, leaning forward, his broad shoulders filling the space between him and the other man. Short dark hair curled in a neat cut. Tanned skin suggested a Latino heritage. The suit he wore seemed to leave nothing to the imagination and the boots completed the look.

She swore she came right there at the sight of him.

His partner leaned back and looked somewhat tense but he wore it well. Long blonde hair cascaded down over an equally impressive physique though he appeared to be somewhat smaller in stature.

Sea blue eyes sparkled with mischief.

Neither had seen her yet. Good.

She could still back out.

Her nipples pocked beneath the shirt and forced the urge to cover up to the front of her mind.

Mentally, she slapped herself. This could be it.

She swallowed the lump in her throat and strode towards the two men. Cigar smoke hung over their heads, sweetening the stale Vegas air.

“Hi.”

The one with his back turned to her spun around and locked gazes with her.

The blonde’s eyes pinned her in place. “Hi. You must be…”

Her tongue snaked out and wet her bottom lip. The cool air with which both men carried themselves hung in the air like a prominent force.

Power emanated from the blonde. Control, from the dark haired male.

Realization hit her.

These two were the real deal.

Her mouth suddenly went dry.

Dark haired man extended an arm, slid a chair out from beneath the table. “You should sit with us. My name is Jason. This,” he waved a hand at his partner, “is Chase.”

“I’m Siddella,’ Heat crept up her cheeks. She had to look up to see how tall both men were even though they sat and commanded their surroundings, rather than the other way around. She slid into the chair and set her hands on the table.

Jason’s eyes gleamed with intense lust, black eyelashes fluttered against his cheeks.

Chase’s silk shirt complimented the depth of color in his eyes while offsetting the tone of his fair skin. She liked the look, it soothed her knowing someone else had fair skin like hers.

A waitress came over with two bourbons. “What will the lady be having?”

“Scotch.” Siddella couldn’t quite find her voice.

“Very well ma’am. Neat?”

Two sets of eyes roamed over her body, flustering her further. Her blood began to boil with arousal. Liquid flooded her core. “Yes. Eighteen year if you have it.”

“Of course.” She trotted away, but not before eyeing the two sitting with Siddella.

“So, Madame Eve’s quite a woman,” Chase spoke first, waving his cigar back.

A brow arched. “Madame Eve?”

“Yes, she’s the one who picked the three of us for this.”

“Hm,” Siddella received her drink a moment later, picked it up and lifted it in toast, “So she’s responsible for…”

“Exactly,” Jason leaned in. “She’s a wise woman I understand. Even if she’s a little…unique.”

Nodding, Siddella took a sip of her scotch. “I had no idea this service was run by a woman.”

“I’m somewhat familiar with the man who owns this hotel and he tells me in little bits here and there about 1Night Stand. Not much to say really. We did the paperwork, submitted it and here we are, a few hours later.”

She whistled, “That was fast. I did mine earlier. You know–”

Jason held a hand up. “Before we all turn into nervous chatterboxes,” he motioned with his cigar at Chase, “Why don’t we toast to this harmonious, potentially euphonious experience, then adjourn to a better local.”

Hand shaking, Siddella brought her glass to the center of the table. “What did you have in mind?”

Chase leaned in, clinking his glass against Jason’s, then against Siddella’s. “We’ve set up something up in the penthouse suite.”

Siddella managed to swallow the lump in her throat and let out the breath she hadn’t realized she’d been holding. The rich scent of cigar smoke, combined with the spiciness from Jason’s bourbon tickled her nose. She leaned in a little closer, “Sounds fancy,” she held her glass up still, “So shall we toast?”

Chase winked, “A new beginning?”

Jason’s glass knocked gently against Siddella’s, then Chase’s. “A new relationship.”

Both men seemed a little uncertain about what to toast. Siddella met Jason’s gaze first, stared deep into those dark depths. Kindness along with the embers of lust burned in his eyes.

Moving to Chase, she studied him only for a second longer than Jason. Chase’s eyes held a tranquil sway that screamed his desire to be trusted and do the right thing. Deep passion twinkled in deep sea blue eyes. She could go with them.

She’d at least be safe.

“Acceptance. To full acceptance, boys.”

For a second, Jason seemed to hesitate as did Chase.

Then they brought their glasses together in one swift motion, before all three of them took long sips.

Siddella enjoyed the burn of the 18 year old scotch, letting the smoothness coat her tongue the way one of these men’s cocks would in a few minutes. She hadn’t forgotten the buzzing of her sex, the pulse of her heart throbbing while lust fueled every movement.

Jason and Chase stood in unison. “Shall we?” Both men set their glasses down, finished cigars ended up in the ashtray. They extended a hand to her.

She took them in hers, noting the size difference when they stood. Both towered over her by a good foot at least. Their hands were huge.

Neither man left doubt in her mind about the size of their cocks when she glanced at their crotches.

Her breath caught in her throat.

She remembered to inhale, exhale. Then, feeling the warmth from both men encircled her, she followed them like a good little girl out of the casino bar and into the nearest bank of elevators. Aware of the overwhelming presence of male surrounding her, she couldn’t help but giggle.

“Something the matter, Siddella? You can back out at any time.”

The tenderness came from Chase.

Back out? Hell no! Her body thrummed with so much sexual energy she could probably power the Vegas Strip for at least a week. She offered an innocent smile. “I’m good. Let’s do this.” Batting her eyelashes, she cocked her head to the side.

Jaosn smirked. “Do you want a safe word?”

The smart move would be to say yes. Somehow it wouldn’t be needed. But…

“Unlike my partner, I’m not asking. I’m giving you one. Wine Bottle. If things get too heavy, you simply say wine bottle.” Chase didn’t look back.

The air of cool coming from Chase made her knees weak. “Wine bottle. Okay.” At least they were thinking of her safety. Yeah, they possessed the traits of true dominant males who valued her existence enough to give her a safe word. She smiled at the gesture.

The elevator dinged. Siddella started forward but a hand on her shoulder stopped her. She looked back at Jason.

His eyes narrowed.

She let out a sigh. “Please, after you.”

Jason stepped into the elevator, followed by Chase. Then they turned and with the slightest of movements, acknowledged Siddella, giving her permission to enter.

The material of her shirt began irritating her already hard nipples. Anticipation drove her wild. What would these men do to her?

What would start things off?
Only a few more moments would pass before she found out.

Excerpt

Ellie Reyes gripped Maddox’s hand as tight as she could. Yes, it was the first time he’d voluntary touched her since he’d picked her up out of the back of the Jeep when they’d first met, but, honestly, that wasn’t important now.

She’d think about the calloused hands of a hard worker—one who helped his Pack and brothers, not necessarily in his job—and how they would feel against her skin. She’d think about what it all meant later.

Maybe later she could even relish his touch and imagine the scents of wolf and forest washing over her.

Later.

Right now, all she wanted to do was hide in a corner so the others would stop staring at her. Or, she could raise her chin at them all and show them they couldn’t hurt her. Her wolf whimpered at the thought, not knowing if that were possible. She didn’t know if she was broken or strong anymore.

She’d been hurt far more than they could ever imagine. They had no idea what she could endure. Oh, they’d all guessed and given her their pitying looks, but they didn’t know.

They couldn’t know.

 image001Dirty Distractions

She wants a fling, and he wants forever…

Zoologist Sara Carmichael’s active social life is the envy of all her friends, but she has a secret. She’s bored senseless. If she has to go to one more bird sanctuary fundraiser with some guy who thinks his little sports car makes him “hip”, she’ll scream.

Enter Brad O’Halloran, her best friend Kim’s much younger brother. A guy who’s picking up the pieces after a quickie marriage and even quicker divorce. A guy so hot he makes her body scream with frustration.

Until Sara’s apartment is renovated, they’re all living at Kim’s place. Despite her determination not to salivate at glimpses of Brad’s finer-than-fine body in nothing but a low-slung towel, flirtation escalates to the brink of something more.

Now one of them has to back down…or ante up for some good, dirty fun with the unspoken understanding that when the time comes, they’ll make a clean break. Neither anticipated they’d make the most complicated connection of all—love.

Warning: This book contains a hero who knows how to make engines— and women—purr, seduction while on cold meds, and a heroine who might be a little older but still enjoys learning a few naughty new tricks.

Smexy Excerpt

Lips curving, Sara reached for her body wash and squirted a huge dollop into her palm. She set aside the bottle and rubbed the soap over her torso, her smile turning impish.

“Uh-oh. That smile scares me.”

She laughed and trailed bubbles over Brad’s chest, leaning forward to nip the corded muscles in his shoulders. He tensed, his pecs flexing under her meandering fingers.

“I want to watch you touch yourself.” She looked up at him under her lashes. “That’s not scary, is it?”

“No.” His throat rippled as he swallowed. “And I do aim to please.”

He didn’t hesitate to load up his hands with the body wash she even now worked into his ropey upper arms. This was a man for whom life itself was a workout. She would bet he didn’t even have a gym membership. He just worked and played hard.

And she had a feeling he had sex the same way. God, she couldn’t wait to find out.

They soaped each other for a couple minutes, the only sounds the rushing water and their increasingly heavy breathing. Without a word, he reached down and gripped his cock. When he began to move up and down in short strokes, her breath caught. So hot. She’d seen men do that in adult movies but never in reality. Never right in front of her.

His arm muscles flexed as the first fat drop of precome seeped down his shaft before being washed away. He sped up, working himself hard. Noting his firm hold, she bit her lip. Maybe she’d been too careful when touching prior lovers. Not that she’d gotten any complaints, but the harsh pumps of his hand gave her pause. They also provoked a low moan.

The sexiest part of this? His low-lidded, burning blue eyes were focused on her. Right now she was the fuel for his fantasies. Knowing that brought a fresh rush of moisture between her thighs.

Riveted, she cupped her own breasts, hardly aware of what she was doing. But then she sneezed again, and he choked out a laugh. “I’m going to get an erection every time I hear you sneeze from now on. You know that, right?”

Instead of responding in kind, she stared at his hand, now moving slower than before, and unwittingly pinched her nipples. The pinch twanged in her lower belly, swift and sharp.

“Damn, baby, that’s beautiful.” Reverence filled his tone.

She splashed a little water on them to wash off the last of the body wash. After she turned off the tap, she stepped closer and gazed deep into his eyes. What she saw there made her heart flutter and her core clench. “Tell me what you imagine when you’re doing this alone.”

“I usually pretend you’re riding me. Your hair loose, your breasts bouncing. I knew they’d be like this.” He molded her flesh, his tanned fingertips against her pale skin an incredible turn-on. “Not too big. Not too small. And your nipples…they’re the same cinnamon brown I always pictured. Almost as pretty as those light brown eyes of yours.”

That his attention returned to her face as he spoke inflamed every dormant nerve inside her body. He captured her lips, tormenting her with light, teasing kisses that made her want to grab his arms and drag him against her. But she reached for his cock instead, desperate to learn how he would feel in her hand.

In her mouth. Inside her. Everywhere.

She shuddered, and he palmed her cheek. “Let’s go in the bedroom.” Each subtle throb of his thick, velvety flesh told her how much his own monologue had affected him. “It’s too cold in here, and you’re all wet.”

“That won’t improve if we go in the bedroom.”

His rich, appreciative laughter wound around her while he nudged her out of the shower and bundled her into one of her thick, Egyptian cotton towels. He folded another around her hair and led her into her room, then tugged her onto the bed. When he started to pull her on top of him, she put up a fight, enjoying the fierce flare of arousal on his face as he finally pinned her beneath him.

“Like it rough, hmm?”

“Maybe.” She blew an escaped strand of damp hair out of her eyes. “But it was more that. I had an ulterior motive. I wanted you just like this.”

He arched a brow. “That so?”

“Oh yeah.” Watching his face, Sara stroked the delicious erection flush against her belly. Then she licked her palm and slickened his length, repeating the move until his cock glistened. “Because you’re not finished.”

~ Excerpt ~

“All the subs act that way around you?” Arianna asked.

“It’s the only way they know. It’s what’s expected of them.”

“I don’t understand how any woman would bow down like that. It’s not normal.”

“Maybe not for you.” Martin understood Arianna’s position. Most who didn’t participate in a Dominant and submissive relationship didn’t get it.

“It’s degrading. She can’t use the phone. She’s a grown woman.”

“Arianna, this is a lifestyle you can’t possibly comprehend because you know nothing about it. A submissive gets just as much as he or she gives. The arrangement they enter into with a Dom is consensual. Roxy is not forced into being here. Her Dom respects and cares for her. She has a very good life.”

“He punishes her.”

“When she disobeys. It’s in her contract.”

“A contract that can’t possibly be enforced in court.”

“Spoken like a true lawyer.” He finished his scotch. “The contract is to protect them both. It lists what is expected of a sub and what the Dominant’s responsibilities are. They outline hard and soft limits. We create a safe, sane, and consensual environment, and that contract maintains trust between the two parties. As long as it is upheld between the parties involved that’s all that matters.”

“To each his own, I suppose.” She shrugged. “I’m your real estate attorney. What you do here is none of my business.”

Then why are you here, kitten?

“I’m very open, Arianna. If you have questions, I’ll be happy to answer them. People should be educated in my lifestyle. It isn’t as uncommon or bizarre as you may think.” He reached for her hand. “I hope you won’t judge me without getting to know me.”

“Um, no.” She looked down at their joined hands. He liked the way her cheeks turned colors when he flustered her. “Of course not. This whole environment is different. It’s going to take some getting used to.”

“I understand.” He ran his thumb over the soft skin of her hand. “If you’d prefer not to meet here anymore—”

“It’s not a problem.”

“Very well.” He smiled because as he suspected she wanted to be there. “Will you join me for dinner?”

Martin couldn’t remember the last time he’d asked a woman to have dinner with him. He usually just summoned a sub when he was in the mood for company. Gracie was the last woman he’d spent any time with at all. Perhaps it was time to explore his options. Obviously, Arianna would be different than the women he dealt with, but he liked the change. When Gracie left him for Cade everything changed. He hadn’t been interested in another sub. As a matter of fact, he hadn’t been interested in another woman until now.

“I’d love to join you for dinner, Mr. Abrams.”

“I’d like you to call me Martin.” Allowing people to use his name wasn’t a privilege he granted often, but everything was different with her. He stood from the bar and picked up her briefcase. “I hope you like Italian. I ordered enough for six people. I wasn’t sure what you would want.”

“Italian is fine.” She took his extended hand and walked to the back of the club with him. “Why didn’t you just wait and ask what I would want?”

“I’m not used to asking.” He motioned for her to take a seat in the huge u-shaped booth that overlooked the Manhattan skyline.

“Oh, Martin.” She giggled. He liked the way his name tumbled off her lips. “You have a lot to learn about non-submissive women.”

Ella Jade has been writing for as long as she can remember. As a child, she often had a notebook and pen with her, and now as an adult, the laptop is never far. The plots and dialogue have always played out in her head, but she never knew what to do with them. That all changed when she discovered the eBook industry. She started penning novels at a rapid pace and now she can’t be stopped.

Ella resides in New Jersey with her husband and two young boys. When she’s not chasing after her kids, she’s busy writing, attending PTO meetings, kickboxing, and scrapbooking. She hopes you’ll get lost in her words.

Vadim nodded. “I’d like to talk to Ms. Walsh about her impressions of the killer if I may.”

She was already getting up and grabbing her backpack. “Ms. Walsh has a lunch date and then she’s off home. She will see if she has time for you tomorrow.”

He met her gaze and tried to look approachable and contrite. “I’d really appreciate it if you could give me ten minutes before you go.”

She sat down again. He waited until everyone else filed out of the conference room and then got up to close the door.

When he returned to his seat she was quick to lock gazes with him.

“Why the privacy?”

“Why are you so defensive, Ms. Walsh?”

“Because you, Mr. Morosov, are behaving like an idiot.”

“I apologized.”

“And did you mean it?”

“No, of course I didn’t. You don’t need to be an empath to work that out, but that doesn’t mean I don’t intend to try and get along with you.”

She sat back and folded her arms under her breasts, making her pink flowery shirt gape open to reveal a green camisole. “So you said. I’m still not buying it.”

“Look, I admit that I overstepped the mark, but…”

“Overstepped it? You sunk yourself up to the neck in it. You don’t waltz into someone’s office and start casting doubts over everyone’s competence!”

Vadim let out a long slow breath. She had a point, but he wasn’t willing to concede even that to her. “Tell me how it felt when you went into the victim’s head.”

She stared at him for a long moment, her brown eyes haunted. “Okay, there was nothing left. No stray fragments, no memories, no nothing. It was as if something had come in with a laser and stripped everything away.”

Guest Interview: Josee Renard

Today Josee is joining the SkylarVerse, and she’s giving us her deepest, darkest secrets…about writing!
***

Why/how did you start writing romance?

I actually didn’t start writing romance – I started writing women’s fiction, but since part of most women’s lives is romance, I guess it was inevitable. I started writing women’s fiction because I truly do believe that women have two comings of age – the first when they’re teens or in the early twenties, the second much later, in their forties or fifties or even later. That’s when I see us becoming the women we were always meant to be and I love writing about that transition.

Who are some of your favorite romance authors?

Oooh, tough question. I’ve just recently (I know, it’s pathetic) started reading Nora Roberts and I love her romantic suspense. In fact, I guess I’d say almost all of my favorite romance authorites write romantic suspense – Suzanne Brockmann, Jayne Ann Krentz, Nora Roberts. One of my favorite romance novel is an old one – Judith McNaught’s Someone to Watch Over Me. I reread that novel sometimes twice a year. Linnea Sinclair, who writes great science fiction – space operas – and great romance. Marjorie M. Liu is a fantasy writer whose romances always keep me in the story. As I read somewhere between 350-400 books a year, I have a whole lot of favorites, so I’ll just stop there.
What inspires you? Movies, music, other authors, etc?

Just about everything inspires me – right now I seem to be on a kick of starting with song titles. I’m writing a ten-story serial – Part Time Lovers – where every story is a Stevie Wonder song title. I’m actually often – more often than not, I think – inspired from a phrase. I might find it in a newspaper, hear it on a radio interview, see it as a piece of graffiti on a wall. I’m a movie addict, so I often grab something from a movie that gets me started on a story, an image, a character, a theme. And other authors? Absolutely, they’re my inspiration. My writing friends, who keep writing under the toughest of circumstances; the writers who tell the stories of hanging in there for years before they got published; my friend Rosemary who at 80 years old decided she didn’t have time to wait for the publishers to buy her books so she self-published.

Do you have a favorite place to write?

Not right now. Because my schedule this summer has been incredibly complicated, I tend to write when and where I can. In the mornings, I often write a few pages in my favorite coffee shop, at lunch, I write in an empty boardroom in whatever office I’m working in. If I could write anywhere I wanted, I think I’d write in the lobby of the Aquatic Center down on the beach. They have little tables and chairs in the lobby, it’s hot and humid and smells like chlorine, there are kids screaming in the pool below, but for some reason I find it very soothing. I’d write for an hour and then have a swim or take an Aquafit class and then write for another hour while my hair dried. In fact, now you’ve made me think of that, I think I’m going to start that when the pool opens back up in September.

What do you consider the most challenging about writing?

This year I’ve learned that the chances of me ever having a schedule are practically non-existent, so the most challenging thing right now is dealing with my non-schedule schedule. It meants I’m learning to write in small increments and trying to fit two or three or four small blocks into each day. I used to be able to write for a whole day – that happens so rarely now that I’m not sure I’d even be able to do it anymore 🙂
What do you do to set the “writing mood”?

I almost always begin by re-reading the previous few pages of what I’m working on. If I’m at home alone, I might read it out loud, if I’m out – which as you can see above I mostly am – I read it to myself and then I write by hand to get me started. I use a very particular pen and a very particular type of paper and that seems to be all I need to get me into the mood. If I’m at home, I might light a candle and make myself a pot of herbal tea, but it’s not necessary.

What are you working on at the moment?

What am I not working on at the moment. I’m two-thirds of the way through the ten-story serial Part Time Lovers. It’s a connected series of stories about a website – not a relationship website but a place where people can find a partner just for now – and the two people, friends since grade school, who run it. I’m really enjoying writing it. I get to write lots of great sex scenes but more importantly, I get to write ten stories about people finding each other. And I kind of feel like Dickens. I’m also working on some serious revisions to a women’s fiction novel for an editor who has asked for them. Once I’ve done those two things, I’m going to write the first novella of a three-novella trilogy set in San Francisco in the 1920s, the Summer of Love, and the present day. Once that’s done, I’m going to do some minor revisions to the first two books of a five book series. After that? I’m going to write a women’s fiction book with a little magic in it. I figure that will probably be somewhere in October.

What is your favorite quote and why?
“You can’t be afraid to slay the dragon.” (Mark Messier)

There are two reasons why this is my favorite quote – first, I love Mark Messier. He took my beloved New York Rangers to the Stanley after 40-odd years (yes, I live in Vancouver but I come from a hockey family and when I was a kid there were only six teams – my dad picked first, my brother picked second, and I had to choose between Boston, Chicago, Detroit and New York. I’d just read A Tree Grows in Brooklyn so of course I picked New York). But more importantly, it reminds me every day that I can’t be afraid of success, that I need to take risks and to believe in myself and my writing.

Blurby goodness: Part Time Lovers

Mercy’s feeling blue because her business—and occasional sex—partner Jules is walking around looking like a cat who just stole a pint of cream. But she’s not a woman to wait for something to happen, she’s going to make it happen. When she finds a post on Part Time Lovers from two men who want, finally, to show their love for each other and need a woman to facilitate their night, she’s in. What she doesn’t realize is that she’s going to learn a whole new side of herself. She going to learn that she loves watching.
